Rajshri banner is known for simplistic and family-centric movies. You get to see big bungalows with joint families and there is no dearth of money. Though slightly overboard but we always love to see such movies because somewhere in our hearts we also want to live such smooth and happy lives where everything is sweet and heartwarming. This time Sooraj Barjatya has come up with a very different and realistic subject where you will see adventure, friendship, age related problems, inter-generational issues and love. This movie is full of emotions. The movie will make you cry but at the same time you will enjoy watching it. Though the subject is new, but the magic and innocence in his movie is same as Maine Pyaar Kiya.
The movie is about life-long friendship of four aged friends, (Amit)Amitabh Bachchan, (Javed)Boman Irani, (Om)Anupam Kher and (Bhupen)Danny Denzongpa. Bhupen passes away. It was his wish to go for a trek to the base camp of Mount Everest with all his friends. Keeping everything aside, these three friends gather the courage of fulfilling their friend’s last wish together. Sarika joins them in their journey. The music composed by Amit Trivedi is melodious. The song “Keti ko” is a treat to watch. The visuals are extraordinary. The movie is shot in Nepal and all the locations are real. Kudos to the cast and crew of the movie for putting in so much of hard work in making this epic movie. I have added the videos of behind the scenes. Please watch them.
The journey of these old but young hearted friends is enjoyable and quite inspiring. It not only changes their perspective towards life but helps them to revive their relations with their dear ones. There are lot of scenes in the movie where you can’t stop crying. The scenes are enacted so brilliantly by these virtuoso actors. Each actor has unique style. Amitabh Bachhan is outstanding in his role of a writer who is shown so strong in the beginning and vulnerable in the end. Anupam Kher is superb in his role of a bad-tempered old man. Neena Gupta plays the character of an over caring wife (Javed’s wife). She adds spice in the movie. Her banter with Boman Irani gives a comic touch to the movie. You will fall in love with her lines in the climax of the movie. Infact there are many such dialogues in the movie which will bring tears to your eyes. Parineeti as the trek instructor is good. Sarika with her poised acting will make you cry in one scene where she tells her story. Nafisa Ali has played the role of Amit Shrivastav’s wife. Her role is small but important.
The movie starts with a slow pace but becomes interesting as the story moves forward. It is full of life lessons especially the climax. It is very rare where you get to see such legendry actors sharing screen together. Sooraj Barjatya has done a great job of getting them in one movie. Do not miss this movie. It will give you a refreshing experience and bring you close to your friends.
