Movie review – Drishyam2

Drishyam was directed by late Nishikant Kamat, and it was appreciated everywhere for its amazing direction and story. With Drishyam, Vijay Salgaonkar has already secured a place in the hearts of everyone. The dialogues of this movie are known to every single person. What happened on 2nd and 3rd October is mugged up by everyone.

Drishyam2 is directed by Abhishek Pathak who has kept the pace of the movie slow in the beginning introducing each character. The story of Drishyam2 begins where its prequel ended (2015). Vijay’s family is still under the pressure of Police and his daughter gets panic attacks whenever she faces Police. Now seven years have passed, and police has started the investigation of Sameer Deshmukh murder case again because they have got one new witness. Meera Deshmukh (Tabu) is adamant to prove Vijay guilty of crime. But this time she will not investigate the case. The new IG, Tarun Ahlawat (played by Akshay Khanna) opens the case again to find out what happened exactly on 2nd and 3rd October. He is on his mission to investigate where Vijay hid Sam’s body?

This movie is a suspense thriller and quite engaging. The story is superb and intriguing. Ajay Devgan with his least dialogues leaves an impact. The film has a slow start, but it was needed to build a base. There are many wow moments where you get shocks. It is hard to predict what Vijay has in his mind. He looks calm and cool even when the people surrounding him are tense. You can hardly guess the climax. The climax is very strong.

Drishyam 2 is a good movie with lot of twists but if you have seen the original Malayalam movie then you might lose interest in the movie. Because the suspense is already known. The Hindi remake is exactly the same. They have removed few scenes but that does not make any difference in the flow of the movie. The movie has lot of new actors in it and every character plays an important part in building up the suspense of the movie. There was one scene of Akshay Khanna when he enters Vijay Salgaonkar’s house. They must have added this scene to create suspense and terror, but it was not needed. Tabu and Rajat Kapoor do not have much scope in the movie. Music is decent. Overall, a good movie.
